Emilia-Romagna is a region of Northern Italy. It includes two historical regions of Italy named Emilia and Romagna respectively. The region of Emilia-Romagna is a wide plain area near River Po in the north; it is mountainous near the border of Tuscany in the south and touches the Adriatic Sea in the east. The mountain chain of the Apennines meet the Adriatic coast in the southeast of Ravenna and Rimini, which is the great plain extending from the river Po.
