Marche is located in the central part of Italy and faces the Adriatic Sea to its East. It is a hilly area of having some river valleys and a small narrow coastal area. The region is divided into five provinces named Ancona (AN), Ascoli Piceno (AP), Fermo (FM), Macerata (MC), Pesaro-Urbino (PU). As the area of Marche is in Italy’s east-center, it is usually also called the ‘calf’ of the Italy’s boot.
